512 Sichuan Earthquake killed more than 60,000 lives and destroyed many villages and cities. Now thousands of survivors fled tent camps and villages across the ravaged landscape of southwestern China on Saturday after the government warned that several lakes and rivers were getting dangerously close to overflowing because landslides have blocked water flow. From the estimation, about 11,800,000 people are evacuating from their homes in order to prevent more damages because of the lakes occurred after the quake.

SEE THE DIFFERENCE WE CAN MAKE

The logo for Earth Hour

Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby (excerpt from www.earthhour.org).

What can we individual do to make the differences?
We may start from small steps, such as turn off the lights when not necessary, turn off computers off before going to bed/leaving your house/office, raise eco-awareness around you, resist to use disposable dinnerware (bring your own cover), etc. Let's start from today before it's too late! What we do now can actually decide our chilren's future!

You and I can make a difference for our home sweet home: EARTH!
