Chinese Classics

Speaking of Chinese Classics, Confucius and Lao Tzu are the two well known philosophers in the world. Their teachings have been translated into several languages, especially English. Several Chinese classics have been rooted in every Chinese's life. Some would say it is part of the Chinese culture. In order to understand Chinese classics, you need to learn some Chinese history and its background.

Children in Taiwan start learning some of Chinese Classics since Elementary School. From Middle School to High School, education includes the Analects and the Works of Mencius. The entrance exams for entering high school and university even assess students understanding of those two and others as well. It does not only test students' rote memory, but also their understanding of Chinese Classics.
